Arrogant Leaf

Thoughts of Phoenix

A dried leaf, wandering around
Swings and dances in the air
Unaware of the outcome,
Sun and rain are not going to show
Any mercy, ungrateful leaf -when on tree
Was seeking freedom, every morning,
Noon and night wanted to cut away,
Now free and happily, roaming around
The streets, parks and Lawns, like a kite,
Now sits on a window sill, breathes
In and out of the freedom of separation,
The tree was home, a place of safety,
While other leaves are green, shining
Under the mighty sun, this avaricious,
Friable thing close to Annihilation,
Still believes tree was a punishment,
Rather being a cradle of love, and
Compassion, branches hold thee together, Protected from rain and heat,
Never let thou down, nourished all along.
Now free as you roam, against you go
To the tree of life, your escape not causing
Any harm to it, early autumn brought
Thee to yourself, the tree will stand tall
Fighting the storms of life, there will be new
Branches and leaves, that bear fruits again,
Although petty leaf is crushed, whirling
From here and there, sometimes in the trash can
And sometimes in the river, cursing
Day and night brought this upon thyself
No remedy can ail thy suffering, time can't
Be contained, arrogance, ego caused thy downfall.

Thoughts of Phoenix

I write to keep myself alive, and I do see things, feel them, and I try to give those feelings and experiences shape into words.
